Special Projects
Classroom Mascot

Each week one child from our room will be selected to take home our school mascot.  The mascot will be taken home inside his own little backpack, which will also include his favorite book and his journal.  Children will be asked to write in this journal about their adventures.  Children will be able to share their writing with the class when they return  to school.  This is just one way I hope to develop both oral and written language this year
Postcard Exchange
Kids love to receive postcards, and they will be receivng many of them this year with our postcard exchange program.  Students will be asked to bring a postcard to school that shows something about Rhode Island.  We will send these cards to other classes in the country.  In return, we hope to receive cards from students throughout the world.  We will keep track of  where each postcard is from on a classroom map.  What a great way to learn about the world!
Book Projects
In order to receive a reading certificate at the end of the school year, students are required to complete a  book report/summary on at least 25 books they have read  Throughout the year students may also be required to complete different book projects.  Some projects could be dioramas, sock puppets, mystery boxes, or vegetable characters.
